CBIT NSS Promotes Khadi Awareness Through Debate, Essay & Seminar

The NSS Club of Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), Hyderabad, India in collaboration with the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Telangana successfully organized a three-part event to promote Khadi and village industries among students. The initiative aimed to educate youth about the significance of Khadi, its role in sustainability, and its potential in the global fashion industry.


The event was conducted under the guidance of Principal Prof. C.V. Narasimhulu, Public Relations Officer G.N.R. Prasad, Faculty Coordinator Dr. B. R. Sreedhar, Director of student affairs and Progression Prof. B. Linga Reddy, and Ex-Faculty Coordinator Ganeshwar Rao, Y. Rama devi-AIML HOD along with Sridevi mam, Dr. N. V. Koteswara Rao Prof. & Director-IQAC. It was meticulously planned and executed by CBIT NSS President Akhilesh Reddy and his dedicated team.








Debate & Essay Competitions – Encouraging Thoughtful Discussions

On January 30, a debate and an essay writing competition were held, engaging students in discussions about the challenges and opportunities of making Khadi a global trend and increasing its appeal among youth.






In the debate competition, Syed Hussain Faraz from CSE secured first place, followed by Sriniketh from AI&DS in *second place, and Lingampally Vaishnavi from MBA in third place. Meanwhile, in the essay writing competition, Ushawini from Civil * won *first prize, Vasu from EEE took second place, and Vishwas Yeleshwaram from CSM secured third place. The winners were honored with Khadi products and certificates, reinforcing the event’s objective of promoting indigenous, eco-friendly clothing.


Seminar on Khadi's Relevancy

On January 31, M.N. Sudhakar, State Director of KVIC, delivered an insightful seminar on the importance of Khadi in India’s independence movement and its relevance in today's sustainable fashion landscape. He highlighted Khadi’s impact on rural employment, self-reliance, and eco-conscious consumerism.


To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy, the event concluded with an homage to his statue on campus, where it was adorned with Khadi materials, symbolizing respect for his vision of Swadeshi and self-sufficiency.


The initiative was a great success, encouraging students to embrace Khadi and contribute to the revival of India's indigenous industries. CBIT NSS continues to uphold national values and sustainability through impactful events like these, inspiring young minds to be the change-makers of tomorrow.
