The startup co-founders Mohammed Sonu and Preetham, students of Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, India under the mentorship of Dr. U.K. Choudhury, Prof. and Advisor( Innovation & Incubation) have developed an innovative application named NayanSaathi. This pioneering app is specifically designed to empower visually impaired children by enhancing their engagement with the surroundings providing detailed intelligent description which is aimed to be provided initially free of cost and subsequently at a very nominal cost.
NayanSaathi aims to foster skill development, independence, and inclusivity to the unique needs of the blind.
The application was recently demonstrated to Padma Shri Dr. Saibaba Goud, Founder of the Devnar Foundation, a renowned school for visually impaired children. Dr. Goud appreciated the innovation and facilitated a detailed demonstration of the product with 65 visually impaired students from grades 9 and 10, as well as 20 parents. This demonstration allowed students to experience the app for their regular activities, and their excitement and happiness greatly projected the app’s potential to make a significant impact.
For user testing, the app has been installed on 20 mobile devices used by the children, enabling continuous evaluation and real-world application. The team remains committed to refining the app further based on feedback to ensure it effectively meets the needs of its users.
This project exemplifies a harmonious blend of innovation, compassion, and technology, showcasing the team’s dedication to creating a meaningful impact in the lives of visually impaired children.
