Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship at CBIT, Hyderabad, India

 At CBIT, significant strides have been made to enhance innovation and research endeavours. This includes the establishment of a cutting-edge, multi-crore facility equipped with state-of-the-art technical amenities. This investment underscores the institution's commitment to providing a conducive environment for fostering innovation and driving impactful research initiatives.

 The Innovation and Incubation Cell (IIC) orchestrates an array of 90 Plus programs dedicated to fostering innovation, incubation, entrepreneurship, start-ups, and activities related to intellectual property rights (IPR), all aimed at cultivating a culture of innovation among students. CBIT is committed to involving a significant number of students in diverse innovation and entrepreneurship endeavours, spanning ideation, problem-solving, proof of concept development, design thinking, and IPR management. This commitment accentuates the institution's dedication to nurturing a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

At CBIT, our MSME Incubation Centre plays a pivotal role in nurturing ideas sourced from professionals, students, and the local community, fostering entrepreneurial ventures within a supportive framework. Two faculty-initiated Idea proposals have secured MSME funding, exemplifying our commitment to fuelling innovative endeavours.

Collaborating with esteemed institutions like BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, opens doors for student projects, with opportunities for select individuals to pursue direct PhD admissions at BITS Hyderabad. Additionally, partnerships with organizations such as TiE Hyderabad, T-Hub, RICH, Hyderabad, and OTBI, Osmania University etc. enrich students' entrepreneurial acumen through program attendance, certification and skill enhancement initiatives.

Furthermore, CBIT takes pride in establishing the prestigious AICTE Idea Lab, currently in progress, which is providing essential resources and infrastructure for idea incubation and prototyping. Existing facilities like the Drone and Robotics Lab, Digital Manufacturing Lab, PCB Prototyping Machine and other equipment support students in traversing the journey from ideation to prototype realization. 500 Plus students have been guided for Rural and Industrial Entrepreneurship under their Internship.

The Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) at our campus extends its reach to innovators, including those from rural and underserved regions, fostering an inclusive innovation ecosystem aimed at addressing societal challenges. CBIT's Incubation Centre mentors number of start-ups and idea incubations, and also hosts various programs focused on instilling an innovation culture among students. A few DPIIT Start-ups are also being mentored.

CBIT's efforts in promoting innovation have been recognized with a Four Star rating from the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell (MIC) and an ARIIA Ranking (NIRF-Innovation Ranking) in the 101-150 band for innovation-related activities. Encouragingly, students and faculty are actively involved in filing IPRs and product development, resulting in 145 published IPRs and 22 granted patents. By actively engaging in idea generation, problem-solving, proof of concepts, and embracing design thinking and IPR, CBIT endeavours to cultivate a thriving ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship among its students and faculty.
